If they have a (.gay) address then they need to have a (.hlp) address as well because there is a difference...

From the New York Times article "

Competing Groups Press for a ‘.Gay’ Internet Suffix"

“If you are launching a purely for-profit venture called dotGay and you are heterosexual, then you are in a way continuing a legacy of straight people earning a lot of money off of gay people that has gone on,” -Mr. Dolce founder of DotGay alliance

Let the gays have .gay and the hetereo's can have .hlp! - NVIII founder of DotHLP Association for the advancement of heterosexual life partners

Bromance explained #1

So in this series I will attempt using simple objects, events, or characteristics to explain why X10 and I have the perfect Bromance.

First in this series is the sweet nectar we both prefer;
Dr. Pepper

X10 and I both really love Dr. Pepper and we love people that love Dr. Pepper. Though it's not always the most popular choice. You have to ask for it in restaurants because both Coca Cola and Pepsi distribute it on a limited basis. While the health benefits of drinking a carbonated soda are arguable at least Dr. Pepper has "Dr." in it's name so it must have some health benefit.

The CEO of Dr Pepper / 7-Up has said:

"
I've always maintained you cannot tell anyone what Dr Pepper tastes like because it's so different. It's not an apple, it's not an orange, it's not a strawberry, it's not a root beer, it's not even a cola. It's a different kind of drink with a unique taste all its own.
"

This quote is analgous to trying to descibe our Bromance. It's unique, it is HLP, it is, through 'Bromance Explained' you will see highlights and anecdotes, but to truly experience our HLPness you will have to guzzle it down yourself.

Intel gooses stocks???

Intel gooses stocks

I don't think CNNMoney.com knows what this means. I'm not sure stocks want to be goosed. If they did it would be more likely X10 or I would goose them.

On another Goose related note; with 32 days left to vote N8 has a two point lead in the 'Who is Maverick?' poll. If you haven't all ready, vote! It's highly unscientific because in reality there is a lot of Goose between both of us and we don't plan on losing that lovin' feeling.

Mainstream media reports on what we have known for a long time

X10 and I had our Bromance way before it became a fad. I'm not surprised that the media is just now catching on. Here at hlpness.com we have tried our best to promote the joys associated with such pairings. I found this interesting tidbit from the article.

Having an HLP actually makes you a better partner!

Geoffrey Greif, a Maryland-based psychologist, adds that men who are comfortable sharing their feelings with other men may actually make better partners. They tend to have no qualms about expressing themselves, he says. He believes all this bromancing is an outgrowth of the metrosexual movement.

"Men are much more comfortable with grooming, with going to work out, with their bodies," he says. "It's part of the outgrowth of the importance of trying to be yourself and trying to be comfortable with whom you are. That opens the road to more openness with other men."

I'm glad X10 has opened his road to more openness with the outgrowth from when I'm being myself. I hope to continue to travel down this road and see where it will take us next.

The Maniversary: Duck Beach 2009

(This is about the only way we let a girl get in between us)

This post is long overdue, but don't fear My Chemical Bromance is now cooking up some steamy goodness! Not that there hasn't been any content to post, in fact, just the opposite! Our HLPness just keeps growing and growing so fast it becomes so hard to keep track of it all!

Indeed, X10 and I first met as we left for the 6 hour trip to Duck beach in May of 2007. We always look forward to our Manniversary as we celebrate another year together with gifts and good times. There is beaches, babes and so many opportunities to relax and have fun. It was there that our Relationship (yes capital 'R'!) began and solidified into a rock hard foundation. Perhaps in another blog post I will relate to you the story of when in a moment of crisis, we actualized our destiny. For now, I'm excited to present to you the hot ball slapping action on the sun kissed beaches of the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Basically anytime X10 and I play sand volleyball, we domiN8. Our unparalleled athleticism, sculpted bodies and camaraderie often bring to mind the classic mantage from the Hollywood blockbuster, TOP GUN, featuring the Kenny Loggins hit 'Playing with the Boys'

In case you didn't catch the lyrics:

"I'd say it was the right time
To walk away
When dreaming takes you nowhere
It's time to play
Bodies working overtime
Your money don't matter
The clock keeps ticking
When someone's on your mind

I'm moving in slow motion
Feels so good
It's a strange anticipation
Knock, knock, knocking on wood
Bodies working overtime
Man against man
And all that ever matters
Is baby who's ahead in the game
Funny but it's always the same

Playing, playing with the boys
Playing, playing with the boys
After chasing sunsets
One of life's simple joys
Is playing with the boys

Said it was the wrong thing
For me to do
I said it's just a boys' game
Girls play too
My heart is working overtime
In this kind of game
Someone gets hurt
I'm afraid that someone is me
If you want to find me, I'll be
Playing with the boys

I don't want to be the moth around your fire
I don't want to be obsessed by your desire
I'm ready, I'm leaving
I've seen enough
I've got to go
You play too rough"

"Bodies working overtime, man against man"

Goose and Maverick are probably tied with Harry and Lloyd as our favorite HLP movie characters. I've created a poll to for you to determine who is Goose and Maverick respectively. Please vote!

So... Goose or Maverick?

"Double bogey! 6 o'clock!!"

"This is what I call a target rich environment"

"Too close for missles! I'm switching to guns"

"I'll be your wingman anytime"

Our official team name was "The Safe Setters". We chose this because of how important it is to always practice safe sets. You don't want balls to go out of bounds, or to the other team! The key to good sets is communication, practice, and having a solid connection with your partner so that you can anticipate his next move.

As you can see from the photo, X10 likes having sets hit from behind so he can really slam it!

"Gooooooooose!"

Unfortunately, X10 and I didn't practice safe sets often before Duck beach, so when it was time to perform, we tried to have as much sets between each other as possible.

Sometimes you gotta go to your knees

We advanced to the semi-finals and went hard after a lot of balls that day. In the end came up empty handed. Although disappointed, we had fun and looked good while doing it. Overall our Manniversary was excellent. Next year we will compete again, and hopefully end up on top!

It's GUY Love between two Guys

As my Scrubs post was cut a little short I wanted to further clarify with a quote and clip from the scrubs musical episode;

"It's guy love, that's all it is, he's mine and I'm his, there's nothing gay about it, in our eyes"

Happy Mother's Day

When I asked my mom what she thought of my new blog she replied: "Well you will always be my son" I'm not sure what that means but I do want to say...

"Hi MOM! I LOVE YOU HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!"

In any serious relationship there comes a time when it is necessary to formally introduce your partner to your family. In November of 2007 the perfect opportunity arose when Christian was unable to fly home and agreed to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family! I wasn't nervous at all because I knew my family would love him! Sure enough he fit right in and my family has adored him since.

Thursday, May 7, 2009

I watched what may be the series finale of Scrubs last night and it was rather touching. When describing my relationship with X10 to other people I often reference JD and Turk, the two main characters from the show that have a unique bond.

FIRST!

I created this blog as our special place on 'teh internets' to celebrate our special and often misunderstood Hetereosexual Life Partnership. When Christian and I first began our journey together 3 years ago we never realized how much difficulty and misunderstanding our special partnership would cause, but we also had no idea how much joy and laughter it would bring as well! We are looking forward to celebrating our 3rd anniversary this Memorial day in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

With this blog, I hope to clear up any confusion that has resulted from our antics and to keep the world updated as our HLPness continues to grow!
